Here are the Rules:
1.0 You will not find a more simple, yet competitive, Fantasy League on the internet. This is a Fantasy League for Hardcore Boxing fans who know and watch the sport. The only thing that matters in Fantasy Boxing are the results. We give you the matches, you give us the results, and we do the rest.Yes,it’s that simple.
We ask a few things from you to help us run things smoother and quicker.
1.1 This season will kick off Friday, September 8th. We will #1 E-mail you the fight list and #2 list fights on the upcoming Fantasy Boxing page here on Halestormsports.com. We are managing 44 fantasy fighters, the responsibility to submit picks, your e-mail and knowing the rules falls on you.
2.0 Follow rule #1 Follow Directions. We’ve spent HOURS, no lie, clicking through e-mails looking for picks and trying to keep things organized because some participants did not follow directions. Most of you know how it works now, its not hard to just send an e-mail with 3-5 picks every weekend. We are serious when we say follow directions, its not fair to the ones who do. They DM’d us, they sent it to ropeadoperadio.com fantasy page, they did everything but follow my clear instruction. Reason? 2 seasons past we had 24 invalid e-mails which could be because I perhaps typed them wrong, because they typed it wrong, because of their e-mail server but for whatever reason, when you e-mail us, tell us who you are and what division you’re in, then you’re confirming its you and we save your e-mail directly. Those who did not follow directions aren’t in the contest. Those who don’t follow directions on sending picks? Their picks will NOT count. We may not even click on it. (Note: We will of course try to be accommodating… but should not be expected either.)
2.1 Remember we’re managing many different people. Something we ask of you is to include on e-mail is the date. When you e-mail us always put your name and division which you’re part of as well as weekend dates which you’re picking.Failure to do this and your pick will NOT count. This is important in case there is a scoring dispute and we need to go back to library and check your picks. Important for weekly updates, For when we are updating a list and want to find a certain persons pick on proper date. There is still no rule on change of picks, no one has abused it yet, but when you change a pick you MUST re-sent us the e-mail you originally sent with title saying its a change, and have the change pick stand out, bold it, highlight it, color itred. Just have it stand out. In this case we can confirm with original e-mail you sent, delete the old one and just keep the one you re-sent, that way we don’t have stacks on e-mails which will take us way too long to update. (Remember; limit last second changes as much as possible.) (Note: We will of course try to accommodating… but should not be expected either.)
2.2 Unacceptable e-mail titles:
- my picks!
- RE: FANTASY BOXING RULES/INFO
- Its Me
- my picks Dstyle
- CHANGE OF PICK!!!
- Is this where i send my picks?
Acceptable e-mail titles:
My picks 2/13-2/14 (MrFactoid, Featherweight)
My picks w/changes 2/13-2/14 (CalixBoxing, Heavyweight)
My Picks 2/14-2/15 (MattyFresh, Flyweight)
3.0 Halestormsports Fantasy Boxing INFO:
When it comes to the fights, All we will ask is that you give us 1. Your pick, 2. Your outcome (KO or Decision) 3. The Round of KO (If you pick KO)
Example: Ortiz by KO9 OR Berto by Decision
3.1 SEND JUST ONE E-MAIL PER WEEK WITH PICKS ( Isolated cases we can tolerate, Friday fights are exempt from Weighing deadline on Thursday, Just one e-mail with the fights please; More info below. )
(Note: We will of course try to be accommodating… but should not be expected either.)
3.2 Picking fights Review:
Pick:The Fighter that you’re picking to win the fight.
Outcome: The manner in which your pick is to win the fight, Knockout orDecision
Round: If you pick knockout, and you get the Round correct, you get a third point.
Note:A knockout is KO, TKO, Retired on stool, you name it. A decision Unanimous or split you name it. If it goes to the scorecards early due to a head-butt… it’s a decision.
3.3 You will get +1 Point for picking the Winner and an additional +1 Point for picking outcome (KO or Decision) of which your pick wins. You can get the “Hat-Trick” by going for the knockout and getting the Round correct, which will earn you an additional +1 point.
+0 If you pick the wrong fighter.
Why can’t you go for a hat-trick when you pick a decision? We get this question a lot but keep in mind, if you always go for a knockout you are not likely to do well. A hat-trick a nice to get and great for tie-breakers but ultimately you’re going to have to get some decision picks correct, to win. (It creates strategy in the game as well)
3.4 Your Record will be recorded during the season and will be determined simply by your predictions. When you get aPick correct you will get a Win on your record. If you get a Pick incorrect you get an Loss on your record.
3.5 Your knockouts, on your fantasy record, will be determined by getting the Outcome in addition to your Win, correct. So if you predict a fight to end via decision and it does, you get a “KO” on your record, likewise if you pick KO and it happens, you get a “KO” on your record. When scoring a Hat-trick (KO and round correct) you will be recorded the “KO”for the outcome and an additional “HT” on your record (which is used for tie breakers)
3.6 Example of a record:
Lets say you predicted 3 fights, got 2 picks right and only one outcome right with a hat trick
2-1-0 (1KO) (1HT)
3.7 Draws:When a fight ends in a draw everyone gets a Draw on their record. You may pick Unlimited Draws in the entire contest. If the draw happens, you will get +10 Points and it will be given the Win on your record. If someone did not predict the fight, they will not receive the draw on their record. (A draw is a tie breaker when pts, records and KO/HT is equal, [Example: 30-5-1 (15KO) (1HT) > 30-5-0 (15KO)(1HT)]
3.8 In an event of a “No CONTEST”, this shall be placed in everyone’s record as a draw, however, those who picked a draw. shall not get points. (Reason is, if you bothered predicting it, and someone else didn’t, you want some credit over the one who didn’t bother, as a tie breaker on a record)
3.9 Deadline and e-mailing picks:ALL PICKS ARE FINAL BEFORE THE WEIGH IN OF FIGHT. IF YOU’RE LATE, YOU’RE LATE. NO DMing ME PICKS. NO DMing other moderators picks. ALL PICKS MUST BE E-MAILED. NO EXCEPTIONS. THIS IS NONNEGOTIABLE. (-1pts for late e-mail submissions){Example: Only Friday fights are exempt from this rule, since we want to avoid double e-mails. Saturday night weigh-ins are before Friday fights.]
3.10 -1 If your fighter gets DQ’d
(If your fighter is Disqualified you will lose a point. So it is worse than losing./ If you’re fighter wins due to opponent getting DQ’d you only get +1 pt, no outcome point)
3.11 -1 If your fighter does not make weight
(A pick for any fight is final BEFORE the weighin. The Weighins will be something to watch… because if you’re fighter does not make weight. You lose a point. Even if the fight gets cancelled.)
4.0 FORMAT:This 7th season will consist of 7 weight classes. You will first compete with your division then the top 2 in each weight class will advance to the “championship rounds” for Pound4Pound Supremacy, which is basically like the playoffs compared to a regular season. Other forms of advancing are by being Third place out of theTWO Group of Death. (Group of Death will be decided by the top 5 in each division on a certain date) Also you can get theGOLDEN TICKET and advance, regardless of where you stand in your division if you’re in the Top 10 P4P. if no one who isn’t advancing per their division is in the top ten we’re going to give the ticket to the person closest to it. When advancing person on top of their divison is crowned Champion of that division, second place is #1 Contender. if you advanced in third place through a Group of Death or with a GoldenTicket you’re a #2 contender. (Although should be rare but possible, #3 Contender if you’re GoldenTicket from group of Death)
4.1 Once you advance form your division you keep your record and championship/contender status but not your points. When tied person with best record obviously ranks higher, if record is tied person with championship status ranks above contenderA #1 contender above a #2 contender and #2 above #3. If status is equal as well then the tie breaker will consist of their P4P ranking before the cut-off date.
4.2 P4P:The Top 10 P4P list during the season will consist of the records overall, regardless of division
4.3 Ranking:The ranking works as follows. First total amount of Points. If you’re tied on points the tie breaker is yourrecord. The tie breaker for record will be the total amount of KO’s and HT’s on your record, If the amount is equal then person with most “HT’s” ranks ahead. This was a must to create as many ways as possible to have a tie-breaker
4.4 Ranking P4P:When ranking Pound for Pound, Top 10, the system remains the same. But additional tiebreakers for that are in place. The total amount of points in each division are calculated, When equal in Points, record and KO/HT’s the one in division with most points ranks ahead. (In an extremely rare case that there is a tie even after this, the moderator will determine the tie off which division has more total wins and KO/HT’s)
4.5 Super Fights: There will be super-fights this season. (There will be two in the regular season and two in the championship rounds; last fight of the season must be a Super-fight.) Super-fights are worth double for Pick andOutcome points. (Doesn’t double hat-Trick point or draw)
4.6 The Final Tie Breaker before Divisional Cut-off:This has not been needed in the last four Fantasy Boxing Seasons, but in the very rare case that at the very end if two participants, in the same division, have the same amount of points, exact same record, same exact amount of KO’s and Hat-tricks, then before the final fight if a tie is possible we will ask for the punch count (as per Compubox) give us total amount of punches landed in the fight by both fighters. (Again as per CompuBox) He or She who is closer to the count gets the tie breaker. Again, this has never had to be used before.(Halestormsports Host and moderators are banned from The Final Tie Breaker and lose top position automatically )
5.0 Unforeseen Circumstances ACT (As of Oct, 23rd, 2011) : FANTASY BOXING HAS A RiGHT TO REMOVE A FIGHT FROM THE LIST BEFORE-DURING OR AFTER THE FIGHT IF AN UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCE IS TO OCCUR. The FANTASY BOXING president and panel MUST adjust to the unforeseen circumstances Act when one occurs, to ensure that they become at best impossible to happen. What makes an unforeseen circumstance? The Rule of four; All four must apply:
a. There must be some form of an appeal process involved because of controversy or legal action within the commissions, promoters, fighters and promoters.
b. Circumstance is evident the night/day of the fight.
c. Casinos did NOT pay out.
d. Is having an effect on participants’ record/points.
(Note) If these four apply a fight is obsolete. Any changes or adjustments to this ACT’s Rule of Three, (Other than an unforeseen circumstance occurring) is ONLY to be made between seasons and announced to all participants before season.
5.1 Unique circumstances ACT (As of Oct 23rd, 2011); FANTASY BOXING HAS RIGHT TO REPLACE A FIGHT INCASE ONE GETS CANCELLED OR IF AN UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCE WARRANTS A FIGHT OBSOLETE.
a. A replacement DOES NOT NEED TO occur during the regular season.
b. A replacement is MUST if it is the last fight of the season. (A Champion may not get crowned if the last fight of the season gets cancelled or ends up in an unforeseen circumstance) If this occurs, as a cancelled fight it may be replaced forsame date if its within a 5 day window.)
c. If a Super-fight is cancelled, its cancelled. To avoid controversy, only the last fight of season will be replaced. If you’re behind and you need the super-fight, cross your fingers it doesn’t get cancelled. (Est.Feb-10th, 2012)
5.2 Standings and Advancement ACT (AS of Oct 23rd, 2011); FANTASY BOXING MAY NOT IN ANY WAY RULE THAT TOP TWO PARTICIPANTS OF A DIVISION NOT ADVANCE TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS. THERE IS TO BE NO “TRADES” OR “SWITCHING” OF PARTICIPANTS IN DIVISIONS UNLESS ITS BEFORE SEASON STARTS. HOWEVER RADR MAY ADD PARTICIPANTS TO DIVISION IF…
a. They’re a new participant to the season
b. They’re a “Reserve” , which is a participant which has been picking fights and gaining points within the same rules and regulations as the participants in the divisions. A reserve is ONLY to be a participant which did not fit in the full roster of divisions.
The Standings and Advancement act gives HSS FANTASY BOXING the right to decide the amount of participants involved in the league including the size of each division, which should be, with intent, the same in size. RADR FANTASY BOXING also has the right to decide what top (ie. top 5, top 7…. ect) in each division rules Division of Death. This must be announced PRIOR to start of the season.
In a RARE event, that a participant cannot continue after the cut-off date he may vacate his/her position and HSS reserves the right to elect a replacement participant to advance to Championship Rounds. This participant is to be the next in line in the standings.
In a RARE event, that two or more divisions are TIED in points for Division of Death Standings the tie breaker shall be participants in the TOP 10 P4P. (*Three pts if #1-2, Two pts if #3-4, One pts if #5-7, .5 pts if #8-10* )
6.1 Who selects the fights? There is a panel who selects the fights, the fights are then voted on. Expect an updated fight list every week for Season6 as was done last season..
7.0 PODCAST: From time to time we host podcast and have some animated fun. But it’s also a good time to offer, suggestions, get questions answered and get more involved. Before every Fantasy Boxing season we do have a conference call to gear up for the new season and we review rules, answer questions, grow beefs and even offer divisional predictions. the Podcast of course is available at the Halestormsports.com website.
7.1 Youtube: Fantasy Boxing is infamous for youtube wars of words. By following the participants on twitter, you’ll see fantasy boxing beefs everywhere on youtube!
7.2 Twitter: It’s highly recommended to be on twitter since its a great avenue to get updated on this unpredictable world of Boxing. Fights get cancelled, fights get replaced ect. Follow @calixsports and @DStyleBoxing . Official hash tag for Fantasy Boxing is the obvious #Fantasyboxing , but due to our success with the hashtag it may get used by other fantasy boxing leagues or by spammers, so we will also use #FBSeven
The point of the Hashtag is to get updated with everyone in the league, updates ect. It’s only a secondary tool. We will use both. We will continue to use #Fantasyboxing for the life of this league, but each season will have its official hashtag moving forward.
