The fighting pride of El Paso Texas, Antonio Escalante, ventured to San Antonio to score one of the best KO’s of his career. After being stunned himself by a Miranda straight left hand, he fought off his back foot and caught Miranda being too aggressive, delivering a vicious right hand that ended the fight.
The suddenness of the punch is what makes you jump out of your chair. It looked for a moment that this may be the unceremonious end of what promised to be a good career, instead turning into the complete Nyquil Treatment for Mr. Miranda. Before the ref even gets to a count of 8, Miranda’s corner threw in the towel. In fact, it looks like a wash cloth, but the ref got the points and wisely put a stop to the fight in the 2nd round.
Watch on the replays as Escalante sat all the way down on the punch and timed it perfectly. In fact, imagine if he had turned his hand all the way over, he may have decapitated Miranda like a cartel murder. This is what boxing fans love. No lead is safe in the sport because in a split second the entire fight, and sometimes a career, can be changed.

Knockouts like this are why I am always appalled at fans (aka keyboard gangstas) questioning the heart and toughness of professional fighters. There is no reset button folks. For as exciting as this KO was, Miranda may never be the same as a fighter again. I applaud him for having the guts to get into the ring in the first place.
